“It’s still as unnecessarily flashy as ever.”
With gemstones embedded all over it and gold-thread embroidery so excessive that the snow-white silk beneath was barely visible, the robe was a flashy display that seemed to embody the wearer’s vanity.
Fluttering that extravagant garment, Pisosit returned to the Chamber of Reincarnation.
“Are you really sure this is okay, Piso?”
“Coolap, don’t question things that a mere apprentice demi-god like you can’t possibly understand! You carried everything out according to plan, didn’t you?”
Like you weren’t just an apprentice demi-god yourself not long ago.
“Well? Answer me!”
“Yeah, yeah, I did exactly as you instructed.”
Pisosit’s face twisted as she crossed her arms irritably, tapping her arm restlessly with her fingers.
“Watch your tone, Coolap. I’m the one who will soon be welcomed as one of the gods.”
“Well, for someone as remarkable as demi-god Pisosit, I suppose it’s not entirely impossible.”
Pisosit began speaking, flaring her nostrils.
“Not ‘possible’….it’s certain! Those three are special. Both Lady Diargana and the other gods will surely acknowledge me!”
Did that sarcasm really not get through?
At this point, Pisosit already seemed to consider becoming a god a done deal.
“You gave them blessings way stronger than what Lady Dia originally specified, didn’t you?”
“I merely granted blessings worthy of those I guide.”
“But, you know… was it really okay not to give those three divine curses? There’s a rule about maintaining balance, right?”
“I did maintain balance.”
Whoa…
It was hard to believe this was the face of someone who served a god. Feeling inwardly put off by Piso’s wicked grin, I offered a warning anyway.
“You’ll probably get in trouble if this is found out.”
“It won’t be found out as long as you keep your mouth shut! That’s all I came to say….don’t go doing anything unnecessary.”
With that, Piso turned on her heel and quickly left the way she came. Left alone in the Chamber of Reincarnation, I pondered.
“Does she really think dumping the divine curses meant for three people onto one balances things out?”
When granting blessings to otherworlders, a corresponding shackle is always required to maintain balance. It wasn’t just me….Piso had also been repeatedly lectured about this by Lady Diargana, whom we both revere.
– There’s no change in the fact that the divine curses matching the blessings are distributed among the summoned otherworlders. Even if there’s a slight bias in how they are divided, the balance is still maintained.
When Piso said that so confidently, I never thought she was serious.
“I thought she was joking, but she was actually serious. No matter how you look at it, that’s just sophistry.”
Even if problems arise, it was Piso who gave the orders. It’s not my responsibility, so I can take it easy.
“Still, that choice of divine curse… was it really okay for her, acting as Lady Dia’s proxy, to hand out something like ‘The One Forsaken by the God of Life’ on her own?”
