Chapter 12: The Girl With a Hint of Tea Aroma

Released:

“Feng’er, now that you’ve officially stepped onto the path of cultivation, these are for you.”

With a wave of her hand, Lu Xiyue placed a long silver sword and a cultivation manual in front of Chu Feng.

As Chu Feng gripped the longsword, a wave of coldness washed over him. Then he glanced at the manual and his expression immediately turned sour. Just one look, and he knew there was no way he could understand it.

He flipped through it casually…yep, definitely incomprehensible. Thankfully, though, each page had accompanying diagrams. Judging from those, he could roughly make sense of about seventy or eighty percent.

Back in his room, Chu Feng lay on the bed. Even now, he still couldn’t believe it. He had really done “that” with his master…

Suddenly, memories of the softness and fragrance in his arms came rushing back, and his heart immediately blazed with heat.

No, no! I need to go outside and cool off!

Just as Chu Feng stepped out the door, he saw a young man approaching with an aggressive air. The boy had delicate features, but his brows were furrowed in anger.

Wait, isn’t that the guy whose fighting power was practically on par with a cheat character? What’s he doing here?

Chu Feng remembered now….this guy was only at First Rank, but had managed to beat someone at Third Rank. Definitely a cheat character. No doubt about it!

Lin Ruo had just received the news. He was about to be stripped of his status as the personal disciple of the Moonlight Sword Fairy. Though he had heard rumors before, he had always dismissed them as baseless gossip spread by others. He never expected it to be true.

Damn it! You were the one who insisted I take you as my master…and now, after just a few days, you’re tossing me aside like this?

Lin Ruo was unwilling to accept it. He was going to confront Lu Xiyue face-to-face!

But what Lin Ruo hadn’t expected… was to see a young man here.

This was the peak, Lu Xiyue’s private residence. And yet…there was a man here?!

“Uh… hello?”

Chu Feng tried to greet him cautiously, but the other boy simply gave him a glance before walking off.

Oh, come on!

Chu Feng flared up….for about a second. Then he cooled right down. Nope, no way he could win that fight. This was someone with cheat-level fighting power. As a humble free-to-play player, it was best to stay out of trouble. If that boss-level guy got serious, he’d be the one suffering.

Meanwhile, Lu Xiyue, with her Eighth Rank cultivation, had naturally sensed Lin Ruo approaching.

Hmph! That beast. She didn’t even want to lay eyes on him now.

With a flick of her finger, Lu Xiyue activated the formation surrounding the peak. As Lin Ruo walked forward, he suddenly hit an invisible wall.

Thud!

Nice. That sound? Music to her ears.

Seeing that scene, Chu Feng almost couldn’t hold back his laughter. Fortunately, thanks to his professional training, no matter how funny something was, he wouldn’t actually laugh out loud.

In the end, he watched as Lin Ruo left the same way he had come.

The Heavens Pinnacle Sect, a prominent power in the cultivation world, was well-known enough that whenever its disciples traveled outside, no matter what faction, others would be wary and refrain from taking fatal action.

However, recently, male disciples had been disappearing one after another.

The sect sent people to investigate, but none returned with any information. That was until yesterday, when a disciple finally sent back a message. Bai Feng Prefecture, Fragrant Flower Pavilion.

Bai Feng Prefecture was under the jurisdiction of the Great Yan. It was a territory not within the Heavens Pinnacle Sect’s sphere of influence. Currently, the Great Yan was ruled by a female empress, and it stood as a power no weaker than the Heavens Pinnacle Sect.

Since the missing disciples were found to have disappeared within the Great Yan, the matter became a bit complicated. The Heavens Pinnacle Sect would need permission from the Great Yan to conduct any investigation there.

Fortunately, the Great Yan agreed to a joint investigation proposal from the Heavens Pinnacle Sect. And so, the sect began preparations to send out two squads to investigate the matter.

One of the teams would be led by Bai Yuyan, the personal disciple of the Moonlight Sword Fairy. She was at the peak of Fourth Rank. The rest of the team would consist of new disciples like Liu Zhitong, Xue Zhiping, Xue Yiyi, Lin Ruo, and Chu Feng.

The other team would be made up entirely of Fourth Rank cultivators, led by an elder with Sixth Rank cultivation.

Half a day later, the two teams slowly descended near the outskirts of Bai Feng Prefecture.

When Bai Yuyan saw her junior brother, she would’ve already ditched the others to spend some alone time with him if it weren’t for the elder present.

In reality, this entire mission had been a joint arrangement between her and her master. If she remembered correctly, the culprit behind this incident was a Fifth Rank fox demon who drained cultivators’ essence.

That made for a top-quality medicinal ingredient. A Fifth Rank demon core was more than enough to refine a supreme-grade Breakthrough Pill, especially one that greatly nourished a Yin-Yang Spiritual Root.

Fragrant Flower Pavilion was the largest brothel in Bai Feng Prefecture, famous for featuring demon race women. Whether it was the popular snake demons, fox demons, or more niche preferences like insect demons, everything could be found here.

At first, Chu Feng had nothing but complaints about this mission. He hadn’t even signed up. So how had his name ended up on the list?!

But then, he heard it was full of female demons… and it was a brothel!

Say no more….beast-eared babes, here I come!

Upon entering Bai Feng Prefecture, they were immediately greeted by personnel from the Great Yan Empire.

“You’ve all traveled far. Please allow us to guide you to your place of rest.”

The welcoming party consisted of five individuals, all dressed in black with waist blades carved with dragon and phoenix designs. They were Dragon-Phoenix Guards. This was a special unit that answered only to the Great Yan empress.

“No need. We’d rather head straight to Fragrant Flower Pavilion.”

Elder Wei stroked his beard and added, “It’s best to wrap up this mission and return to the sect as soon as possible. After all, the current empress of Great Yan really dislikes other powers meddling in the empire’s internal affairs.”

The only reason Great Yan agreed this time, it’s said, is because the Empress herself spoke up.

She apparently wanted to see the new disciples of the Heaven’s Pinnacle Sect. Especially the newly accepted personal disciple of the Moonlight Sword Fairy.

So, the Heaven’s Pinnacle Sect brought along a few new disciples. Otherwise, with how dangerous this mission is, sending newcomers would’ve been far too risky.

At the back of the group, Chu Feng looked at the woman ahead of him. She wore a light cyan dress and a veil. Her figure reminded him strongly of Senior Sister Yuyan.

Unfortunately, with her face covered, he didn’t dare jump to conclusions.

“Hehe, curious about that senior sister too, are you?”

Just then, a voice abruptly spoke from beside him. Turning his head, Chu Feng saw a man who looked like a mix between Zhang Fei and Li Kui. He had thick dark eyebrows and big eyes on a tanned, rugged face. Honestly, it was a bit hard to look at.

“I’m Liu Zhitong. They call me ‘One Hook to the Soul’. And you, brother, what’s your name?”

“Zhang San. Nickname: Outlaw Madman. A pleasure to meet you.”

(TN: Zhang San seems like a known name that is used a lot.)

Liu Zhitong who was acting like they were already close friends scooted up next to Chu Feng.

“Brother, I saw you just now. You were staring really hard at that senior sister up front!”

“What?! No, no! Be careful, or I’ll sue you for slander!”

Chu Feng was shocked. Damn it, he was sure his gaze had been subtle! How had this guy noticed?!

“I get it, I get it. We’re all men here,” Liu Zhitong said knowingly, pointing to the girl nearby.

“Instead of aiming for someone as untouchable as Senior Sister, Brother…no, Brother Zhang, why not take a good look at Yiyi?”

“Why?”

“Take a look for yourself.”

Liu Zhitong pulled Chu Feng to the side, glanced around to make sure no one was paying attention, and then took out a book.

Just seeing the cover made Chu Feng’s eyes go wide. On it was a pure and lovely girl with cat ears. She was pouting and sitting in a duck pose that just happened to show a hint of fair skin.

It was a photo book?! Such a thing actually existed in this cultivation world?!

And the girl on the cover was the very one walking ahead of them. Next to her image was written:

“This little girl, Xue Yiyi, humbly asks for Senior Brothers’ support~”

Just one glance, and Chu Feng felt as if he could taste the faint aroma of tea.
