Chapter 25: The Arrogant Second-Generation Side Character Makes His Entrance

Released:

Seeing the Taoist priest at the stall still dozing off, Chu Feng felt this place didn’t seem all that reliable.

It seemed the Taoist priest sensed someone approaching. He drowsily opened his eyes, saw Bai Yuyan and Chu Feng, yawned, and then said, “Each of you can draw one lot.”

“Junior Brother, want to give it a try?”

Bai Yuyan looked at Chu Feng with a hint of anticipation in her beautiful eyes.

Seeing this, Chu Feng thought, Oh well, may as well pick one at random.

After drawing a lot, Chu Feng suddenly asked, “Are your fortunes accurate?”

“Of course! In this county capital, if I claim second place, no one would dare claim first!”

The Taoist Priest patted his chest with confidence.

Alright then.

Chu Feng handed the fortune stick to the Taoist priest.

In an instant, the Taoist priest’s eyes widened in surprise. “Young man! This is a top-tier fortune! Hold on!”

He then handed a slip of paper to Chu Feng.

Chu Feng opened it and saw the words:

A perfect match, a couple blessed by the heavens—

The beauty before you is all you need.

No need to seek love elsewhere.

Uh…

Chu Feng drew another lot and handed it over to the Taoist priest.

Once again, the Taoist Priest’s eyes widened in shock. “Young man, another top-tier fortune!”

With that, he gave Chu Feng another slip of paper.

Chu Feng opened the second fortune slip. It read:

Suddenly, as I turned around, there you were…standing quietly amidst the dim lights.

Chu Feng turned his head. Only to see Senior Sister Yuyan behind him. As for the street vendors? Strangely enough, not a single one remained in sight!

No way… seriously?

Just as Chu Feng was about to draw a third fortune, the Taoist reached out and stopped him.

“Young man, once and twice is fine, but not thrice or more. That’s my rule,” the Taoist said firmly.

Hearing this, Chu Feng had no choice but to give up.

“Senior Sister Yuyan, would you like to draw a fortune?”

Chu Feng asked.

“I’ll pass. Since you’re done reading yours, why don’t we go eat? It’s getting late,” Bai Yuyan replied as she glanced around, searching for a restaurant.

“No need to look, Senior Sister. There’s one right next to us.”

Chu Feng pointed to a nearby inn. Truth be told, he was starting to feel hungry too.

“In that case, let’s head in, Junior Brother.”

As soon as Bai Yuyan pulled Chu Feng into the restaurant, the expressions of all the street vendors outside instantly shifted. The cheerful smiles vanished, and they swiftly packed up their things before disappearing without a trace in mere moments.

***

They stepped into the restaurant and picked a great spot. Right by the window, with a lovely view of the street outside.

Strangely enough, despite how nice the restaurant looked, it was practically empty.

“Junior Brother, how was today? Did you have fun with your Senior Sister?”

Bai Yuyan rested her cheek on one hand and looked at him with a soft smile.

“It was nice. I had a great time.”

Chu Feng replied and gave her a thumbs-up in approval.

“In that case, your Senior Sister will make sure you have even more fun from now on~ Whether riding or… lying down~”

Bai Yuyan said with a gentle smile.

“……”

For some reason, he felt like Senior Sister Yuyan was making suggestive remarks….but he had no solid proof.

“Here, Junior Brother, try this.”

Bai Yuyan picked up a piece of spirit beast meat and placed it into Chu Feng’s bowl.

“Oh, alright.”

Chu Feng picked up the meat, about to eat it.

Bang!

The doors of the restaurant were suddenly kicked open, splintering with a loud crash. A voice immediately followed.

“Boss! Your Second Master has arrived! Bring out your best food and wine!”

Instantly, what few patrons there were turned to look. Including Chu Feng.

Of course, he made sure to finish the bite of spirit beast meat first.

No one noticed that, at that very moment, the chopsticks in Bai Yuyan’s hand had silently snapped in two.

***

This “Second Master” was Zhao Luo. He was the second son of the local governor.

Late-stage second rank cultivation.

Relying on the power of his father, the county governor, and his elder brother, a high-ranking imperial official, Zhao Luo acted completely like he wanted within the county.

So, earlier that day, Zhao Luo had been parading down the street with a low-intelligence demon beast on a leash, flanked by two household servants.

Seeing the fearful expressions of the people around him, Zhao Luo felt thoroughly pleased.

Yes, that was the look he wanted…. fear, disgust, hatred. He enjoyed every bit of it.

The demon beast’s crimson eyes scanned its surroundings, with drool dripping continuously from its mouth, causing nearby pedestrians to scatter in terror.

This beast was a middle-stage third-rank creature. It had been personally captured and gifted to Zhao Luo by his father, the county governor.

Ever since receiving it, Zhao Luo had adored the beast, often taking it out just to stir up trouble.

Even the patrolling city guards didn’t dare stop him because they all knew what happened to those who displeased Zhao Luo.

As for the other cultivators in the city?

Wandering rogue cultivators wouldn’t dare get involved, and the disciples from the sects merely watched coldly from the sidelines.

On the bustling street, Zhao Luo was swaggering along when he suddenly noticed a road he didn’t recognize.

“That’s strange… Since when did the county capital have a street like this? I don’t remember it at all!”

Driven by curiosity, Zhao Luo turned and walked down the unfamiliar road.

He hadn’t gone far when he spotted a restaurant.

Being one of the top freeloaders in the entire county who never paid for food, Zhao Luo felt it was his duty to personally taste the cuisine of this new place.

He wanted to see for himself if it was worth anything.

As usual, Zhao Luo made his grand entrance by kicking the restaurant doors wide open and establishing dominance right from the start.

Then, in an arrogant and boastful voice, he shouted:

“Boss! Your Second Master has arrived! Bring out your best food and wine!”

After that, he swaggered in and flopped down at a table without a care in the world.

“Ah! This esteemed guest….what would you like to eat?”

At that moment, the owner came out. He was smiling and bowing as he addressed Zhao Luo.

“You the owner?”

Zhao Luo looked him up and down with condescension in his eyes.

“Yes, that’s me! I didn’t know such a distinguished guest was arriving. I apologize for not welcoming you sooner!”

The owner remained polite and deferential.

“Cut the crap. If the food here doesn’t satisfy me, your Second Master, then I’m telling you now…you might as well shut this place down!”

He said it with utter arrogance, as if he were doing the owner a favor just by sitting there.

“Of course, Second Master! We’ll make sure you eat to your heart’s content!”

With that, the owner bowed and hurried off to the kitchen.

Upstairs, Chu Feng looked at the scene unfolding before him….it all felt so familiar. Wasn’t this just another arrogant and domineering second-generation rich kid?

A classic side character who often appears around the protagonist, known for being an “experience dispenser”. Beat the underling, the boss shows up; beat the boss, the elder appears. In short, it never ends.

But this guy should clearly go look for the protagonist, not for Chu Feng. After all, the protagonist was his senior brother, Lin Ruo.

So, Chu Feng continued eating and drinking as if nothing was happening.

He picked up a piece of spirit meat, put it in his mouth, and kept on eating.

Bai Yuyan, on the other hand, had a cold glint in her beautiful eyes. Her fingers moved slightly. Since Chu Feng had his back to everyone, he didn’t notice that suddenly, every person’s waist in the restaurant lit up.

In the next moment, a formation began to silently and stealthily activate.

Neither Chu Feng nor Zhao Luo noticed a thing.

However, Chu Feng hadn’t eaten for long when a voice rang out from behind him.

“Kid, get lost! This seat belongs to your Second Master!”

Chu Feng turned his head and saw Zhao Luo standing behind him with a greedy look fixed squarely on Bai Yuyan, who was sitting across from Chu Feng. No one knew when he had gotten there.

As the saying goes: well water doesn’t mix with river water. If others don’t mess with me, I won’t mess with them.

Chu Feng had assumed that since he wasn’t the protagonist, this guy wouldn’t pay him any attention. Clearly, that was wishful thinking.

He put down his chopsticks and bowl, wiped his mouth, locked eyes with Zhao Luo, and slowly said,

“And what if I say… no?”

The way this guy was looking at Senior Sister Yuyan….it made Chu Feng deeply uncomfortable.
