“From now on, we’ll never be apart again, Junior Brother.”
Seeing the sickly smile on Jiang Moqing’s face, both Lin Que in the dream and Qin Wanyuan, watching as an observer, were startled.
“So Senior Sister once had such a side to her… No wonder Lin Lang was wary of her at the very beginning.”
Qin Wanyuan recalled that when she first awakened the system and checked the status panel, Lin Que’s attitude toward Jiang Moqing had been marked as “wary”. At the time she hadn’t understood why, but now she finally did.
At the same time, she realized something else… that sending Lin Que out alone with Jiang Moqing had not merely been like leading a lamb into a tiger’s den, but rather pushing him straight into the abyss.
Qin Wanyuan bit her thumbnail, her pupils trembling as she muttered to herself,
“It’s over, it’s over… I never thought Senior Sister would be this kind of person. I have to hurry and save Lin Lang… But I can’t interrupt the dream again, or those two Shared Dream Talismans will be wasted… And I’m not even sure where they are right now.”
When Lin Que left, he had only described a rough route. Qin Wanyuan had no idea where they actually were, and the system’s text broadcast only described the surrounding terrain. It wouldn’t directly name a location she herself didn’t know.
“Do I have no choice but to wait for Lin Lang to come back on his own…”
Knowing that no amount of anxiety would change the situation, Qin Wanyuan forced herself to calm down and continued watching the conclusion of the story between Jiang Moqing and Lin Que.
In the sunless underground prison, Lin Que’s eyes were wide as he stared at Jiang Moqing in disbelief.
“Senior Sister, why are you doing this…”
“Why am I doing this?”
Jiang Moqing tilted her head, her waist still moving as she spoke, leaving both their expressions twisted.
“This is all your fault, Junior Brother. If you hadn’t suggested we separate… why would I have become like this?”
As she finished speaking, she bit down on her teeth, her eyes filled with an indescribable hatred. Love and hate intertwined at that moment, turning into wave after wave of what seemed like endless taking.
None of this was within Lin Que’s control. His strong physique had instead become a burden; once one round ended, Jiang Moqing would force herself to endure and begin the next.
Outside the window, the sun and moon alternated, yet inside the room there was no awareness of time….only ascent after ascent to a peak, followed by a swift plunge into the abyss, over and over again.
During this time, Jiang Moqing’s body had long since reached its limits, so she swallowed pill after pill just to continue that unending pleasure, hoping to use it to win Lin Que back or perhaps… simply to take revenge for his leaving.
Pleasure had long since turned into the purest form of torment. Lin Que’s body, even his consciousness, had grown numb. He could only passively endure Jiang Moqing’s forceful love.
At some unknown point, the light had already faded from Lin Que’s eyes. His once sturdy body had withered as though drained of all moisture, while Jiang Moqing’s lower abdomen had swollen to a somewhat exaggerated degree.
“Hehe… Junior Brother, let’s just keep… being this happy forever~”
Jiang Moqing’s once-pleasant voice had turned hoarse. Her beautiful eyes rolled faintly, her long jade-like legs trembled, and her slender waist shook uncontrollably….yet she showed no intention of stopping.
Truly, she would not rest until death.
Qin Wanyuan, watching from the side, was so shocked by the scene that she collapsed onto the ground.
“Senior Sister… has gone mad.”
She had never imagined the story would take such a sharp turn from what once seemed so blissful into something so horrifying.
[Host, this is what’s known as a yandere.]
“Yandere…” Qin Wanyuan murmured.
[A yandere’s craving for love is an abyss. No matter how much you give, it will never satisfy her. You’ll only sink deeper and deeper, unable to escape. Even if things fall to this extent, she still won’t let you go.]
Listening to the system’s explanation, Qin Wanyuan couldn’t help but feel a chill run down her spine. She had personally witnessed how well Lin Que treated Jiang Moqing.
In the early days, before Lin Que returned Jiang Moqing’s feelings, she had always been the one giving unilaterally, never asking for anything in return. But once she truly received the nourishment of love, everything changed.
Jiang Moqing developed a pathological craving for Lin Que’s affection. She wanted to monopolize everything about him. If anyone else so much as exchanged a word with him or even merely met his gaze, Jiang Moqing would feel as though she had lost something.
That was why she forced Lin Que to cut off contact with Ao Xinyu. Even if Lin Que spent all twelve hours of the day by her side, it was never enough.
Such a distorted relationship left Lin Que feeling suffocated, which was why he proposed separating.
However… instead of improving Jiang Moqing’s condition, it only drove her further into madness, ultimately leading her to imprison Lin Que.
Qin Wanyuan watched as their relationship went from two blocks of ice, to mutual understanding, to feelings gradually warming and taking shape, to becoming Dao companions….only to end in such bleak tragedy. She couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.
“But with Senior Sister guarding him so tightly, how did Lin Lang manage to escape in the end?”
The dream continued to unfold.
No one knew how much time had passed. In the sunless underground chamber, neither Jiang Moqing nor Lin Que spoke anymore. They simply remained locked in an embrace…or rather, Jiang Moqing held Lin Que unilaterally.
Lin Que’s withered hands and feet had long since been rubbed raw by the chains. The wounds had scabbed over, only to be torn open again. His current appearance was already too miserable to look at.
Neither of them spoke, maintaining that embrace the entire time. If not for the faint sound of breathing, Qin Wanyuan would have thought they were already dead.
“Senior Sister…” Lin Que finally spoke slowly.
“I’m here~”
After that reply, silence fell once more. Lin Que breathed deeply, as if uttering those few words had already consumed immense strength.
“After repeating this for so many days… you must be tired too…”
“Not tired. As long as I’m with you, Junior Brother, everything is happiness. Even death would be the same.” Jiang Moqing let out a foolish little laugh, long since stripped of the dignified composure she once had as the aloof Senior Sister.
“What if I die first?” Lin Que asked.
“You won’t die. Not while I’m here.”
“But I’m about to die.”
“Why?” Jiang Moqing suddenly grew flustered. The haze in her eyes cleared at once, and she looked at Lin Que with nervous intensity.
“Senior Sister, you probably don’t know this, so let me tell you a little piece of information.”
Perhaps it was a final flash before death, but the corners of Lin Que’s cracked lips actually curved into a faint smile. “An ordinary person will die after about five days without food or water. Cultivators can fast because the spiritual essence within their bodies sustains them. So I started wondering about something. If… one stopped absorbing the spiritual energy of heaven and earth and relied solely on the spiritual essence within, how long would a cultivator last?”
“Don’t tell me…”
Jiang Moqing’s pupils shrank abruptly. She realized something terrifying, and Lin Que smiled as he continued.
“That’s right. From the very first day I was imprisoned, I stopped absorbing the spiritual energy of heaven and earth.”
Lin Que coughed violently several times, yet his once vacant eyes grew brighter and brighter. “So I arrived at my answer. One month. I think about a month. After all, it’s pitch-dark here. I’ve long since lost track of time.”
“You’re not allowed!” Jiang Moqing suddenly sprang to her feet, took out a bottle of Spirit-Gathering Pills from her storage ring, poured them out in a frenzy, and stuffed them into Lin Que’s mouth….only for them to be spat back out.
“It’s useless. I’m about to die. Even if you force me to swallow them, I will never absorb a single trace of their medicinal power…”
Lin Que looked straight into Jiang Moqing’s eyes as he spoke calmly, as if he had long since cast aside any concern for his own life or death.
Sensing the rapid ebb of Lin Que’s life force, the sickly Jiang Moqing finally lost her composure.
“Why are you doing this?!”
“Why?”
Lin Que blinked, then smiled at last. It was a smile of relief, a smile that had already let go of life and death. “Senior Sister, I won’t blame you for this, because everything started with me. I overestimated myself, thinking I could resolve it all. In the end, this is where it led.”
“Senior Sister, you’re ill. And I’m ill as well.”
“Now, the only way to cure both our illnesses… lies right here.”
Lin Que said many things, and in the end, gazing into Jiang Moqing’s tear-filled eyes, he enunciated each word clearly: “This is the final solution.”
“Senior Sister, choose. Either we part… or I die.”
