“Husband?”
Liu Xueyao looked at Chu Feng with a hint of confusion in her beautiful eyes as he returned while carrying a man in black over his shoulder.
“Husband, is this… a new type of fish?”
Liu Xueyao asked.
Chu Feng threw the man in black to the ground, clapped his hands, and said,
“Not a fish. More like someone I fished up.”
“……..”
“Oh right, Sister Saintess, could you please notify the senior and tell her that I caught a big fish? Someone’s plotting to make a move against you.”
Liu Xueyao took out her communication token and contacted Liu Shijing.
Not long after, a streak of light approached, and Liu Shijing appeared.
Unlike her usual cyan robe, this time she wore a pink-and-white dress. Her delicate face still held a faint blush that hadn’t fully faded.
Seeing Liu Shijing, Chu Feng stepped forward and greeted her politely,
“Greetings, senior.”
Seeing Liu Shijing in that pink-and-white dress, he was a little taken aback. If the cyan made her seem elegant and refined like a spring breeze, then this outfit gave off the youthful charm of a young maiden.
As for the Saintess, she was dressed entirely in white. Her cool and aloof demeanor made her seem ethereal.
Of course, the tipsy look she had on the night she got drunk had left a deep impression on him….that contrast was truly cute.
When Liu Shijing saw Chu Feng, a blush that had nearly faded suddenly returned to her cheeks, as if something had come to mind.
She said, “You brat, what’s this conspiracy you summoned me for?”
If it hadn’t involved Xueyao, she wouldn’t have bothered coming at all.
Chu Feng walked over to the man in black, gave him a kick, and said,
“Elder, can you wake him up from his unconscious state?”
Liu Shijing glanced at the man in black. “Easy.”
She flicked her finger, sending a strand of true qi into the man’s body.
The next moment, the man in black’s eyes flew open, bloodshot and wide.
“Ah! It hurts!”
He screamed, writhing on the ground in pain.
Watching this method of waking someone up, Chu Feng shuddered.
Holy crap.
This guy was literally jolted awake from pain.
Glancing at Liu Shijing, he couldn’t help but swallow nervously. The newbie was trembling in fear.
By the time the man in black stopped rolling around, he already looked like he was half-dead.
Seeing how weak he looked, Chu Feng quickly asked,
“Hey, who’s the mastermind behind you?”
The man in black gave a weak smile and said,
“I’ll never—”
Before he could finish, he caught a glimpse of Liu Shijing standing nearby out of the corner of his eye. His eyes widened in terror.
“It’s Zhou Ji! Zhou Ji, the Vice Sect Master of the Outer Sect!”
The man in black’s attitude changed dramatically. Just a moment ago he looked like someone with unyielding integrity, but the next second, he completely gave in.
Chu Feng didn’t quite know what to say, so he simply remarked,
“Hmm, not bad. A wise man submits to circumstances.”
Zhou Ji…
Tsk!
That name sounded familiar.
Right! He remembered now. When he first arrived at the cave residence, there had been a middle-aged man who came by. His name was Zhou Ji.
So it was him!
“Zhou Ji, hmph! As expected, men are all unreliable and ungrateful.”
Liu Shijing crossed her arms, casting a cold glance at Chu Feng, clearly implying something.
Then she turned to her niece and said,
“Xueyao, see what kind of men are out there? That’s why it’s best if you just stick with your aunt.”
Liu Xueyao gave a slight nod but then added,
“Auntie, you’re right… but I believe in Husband.”
Liu Shijing was so angered by her niece’s words that her ample white chest heaved visibly. In the end, she just gave Chu Feng another icy glare.
Seeing Liu Shijing’s gaze, Chu Feng lowered his eyes and looked at his nose, then from nose to mouth. It was the classic “act innocent” look.
At this point, he was just about used to Liu Shijing’s frosty stares.
Still, he couldn’t forget the real issue at hand. The interrogation needed to continue.
“You said Zhou Ji…. where is he now?”
To catch the traitors, you had to start by taking down the ringleader. Once they got the leader, everything else would be easy.
The man in black replied,
“I don’t know. Elder Zhou uses a different location every time he sends a message.”
When Chu Feng heard that, he thought:
This Zhou Ji is quite cautious.
“Is there any place he frequents?”
“There is one.”
“Where?”
“Quiet Cultivation Peak.”

Quiet Cultivation Peak.
Inside a room, a male elder paced back and forth anxiously.
“The support my brother sent still hasn’t arrived? Could something have gone wrong?”
He felt a mounting pressure. If the plan were exposed, the Yaochi Holy Land definitely wouldn’t let them off easily.
Honestly, all that talk about resisting Yaochi Holy Land on behalf of the male disciples….that was just a smokescreen.
The truth was, most of them had come to Yaochi Holy Land because they failed the entrance exams of other major sects and came here to try their luck.
Although Yaochi Holy Land had very strict requirements for female disciples, its standards for accepting male disciples were among the lowest of all major sects.
But the price for that was steep: they were stuck in the outer sect for life. Without the Holy Master’s permission, they could never step into the inner sect.
This male elder had been swayed by Zhou Ji’s persuasion. All he wanted was to obtain some of the spiritual vein liquid from the Yaochi Holy Land’s legendary treasure, the Spiritual Vein Tree.
After that, he planned to activate the teleportation array and make a run for it.
As for controlling the Holy Master….what a joke. That woman was already a half-step into the ninth rank. With just a flick of a finger, she could crush all of them. Only fools with low intelligence would be taken in by such talk.
As for Zhou Ji, he seemed to be up to something. He had even kidnapped the Holy Master’s adopted daughter, which nearly scared him out of his wits.
“This won’t do. It’s been too long and no one’s shown up. Something must’ve gone wrong. I need to inform my brother.”
The male elder took out two messenger pigeons. Communication tokens could leave evidence and risk being intercepted, so this primitive method was still the most reliable.
Soon, he had finished writing two notes.
—Caution! Brother, the plan has changed. The contact still hasn’t returned. Be careful.
—Master, the goods have been secured. Please come and inspect them as soon as possible, before anything changes.
After that, the male elder released the two pigeons.

After learning that someone was plotting in secret, Liu Shijing immediately notified a few elders and quietly sent people to surround Quiet Cultivation Peak.
As for now…. halfway up Quiet Cultivation Peak, a large bonfire blazed brightly. Two women and one man were sitting on a big rock nearby, while a person in black was drawing circles on the ground not far away.
A pot hung over the bonfire, bubbling with soup inside.
“Haha, it’s done!”
Chu Feng took a sip of the soup. The taste was pretty good. After going through two wilderness survival experiences, he had learned his lesson the hard way. Now, his storage pouch was stocked with carefully mixed seasonings and cookware.
He scooped up a bowl of soup and handed it to Liu Xueyao beside him.
“Sister Saintess, this pigeon soup is great stuff. It replenishes qi and blood, nourishes yin and kidneys, and even has beautifying effects!”
“Husband, thank you for your hard work.”
Liu Xueyao accepted the bowl, parted her cherry lips, took a light sip, and her beautiful eyes immediately lit up.
Chu Feng didn’t dare delay. He quickly scooped another bowl of soup and handed it to Liu Shijing beside him.
“Senior, this is a small token of gratitude from this junior. Please give it a try.”
Seeing her niece’s eyes light up, Liu Shijing thought to herself: Is this brat’s pigeon soup really that good?
She gracefully accepted the bowl, parted her red lips, and took a small sip. Her expression froze.
It was delicious!
She hadn’t expected this brat to have such good cooking skills.
“How is it?”
Chu Feng asked.
“It’s delicious.”
Liu Xueyao said straightforwardly.
“Hmm… passable, I suppose.”
Liu Shijing held the bowl with both hands. Her gaze was slightly evasive as she spoke.
“Hehe, as long as it’s not bad.”
Chu Feng then scooped a bowl for himself.
Drinking soup…. what a wonderful thing!
By his feet, two slips of paper lay pressed beneath a small stone.
