The daytime patrol duty was assigned to the women’s cell block, but suddenly, a problem erupted.
One of the female inmates who had just been imprisoned today had a seizure.
“It seems to be a seizure due to alcohol withdrawal,” Professor Mephisto explained in a calm voice.
It was a common occurrence in the prison, but I was taken aback when she suddenly collapsed right in front of me.
The female prisoner, who had been unconscious and stiffened just moments ago, had already entered a relaxed state.
“When heavy drinkers come to prison and abruptly stop drinking, they experience these symptoms.
“Wolf, you should also be careful not to drink excessively,” Professor Mephisto warned.
“What should we do? Should we take her to the infirmary?”
“I’d rather not. This person has wet herself.”
It seemed she had involuntarily urinated during the seizure.
Even though I didn’t want to, a sigh escaped me.
“We’ll have to change her clothes and wash her,”
“Thank you for your hard work. Oh, but please refrain from using cold water. It might cause her heart to stop,” Professor Mephisto cautioned.
Did I have to boil water and clean her up?
There was no choice but to have her fellow inmates do it.
“Peter, I’ll leave the preparation of hot water to you. I’ll handle the patrol alone.”
Leaving the female prisoner in the care of Professor Mephisto and Peter, I continued the patrol on my own.
Today, three more new female inmates had arrived, so I checked each cell carefully, trying to remember their faces.
When I reached Cell 4, I couldn’t believe my eyes.
Sitting silently while hugging her knees inside the cell, was none other than Jane, my former colleague.
Jane and I had only recently crossed paths again on the street.
It was when I was working as a supervisor for road construction.
We both felt relieved that we had found new jobs, but…
“…Jane?”
“Sir Wolf…”
Jane clung to me with frightened eyes.
“Please, Sir Wolf, help me!”
“Calm down. Why? Why are you here like this?”
Jane grabbed my sleeve and shook her head vehemently.
“No, it’s not true. There must be some mistake. Please, Sir Wolf, help me!”
Her words were incoherent, likely due to her state of confusion.
But having worked together, I knew Jane’s character well.
She was a good, diligent girl.
She was not the type to commit a crime.
“Okay, I understand. I’ll look into what happened. Just try to calm down,”
Though there was little a guard could do during a trial, I decided to examine the files anyway.
“Prisoner No. 27! Are you here? Casey Sue!”
While trying to console Jane, who still clung to me, I called out to a particular female prisoner.
“Well, well, if it isn’t Mr. Wolf. What can I do for you?”
A languid voice came from the depths of the cell block. A tall, red-haired woman with a tanned complexion emerged.
Her name was Casey Sue, and she’s the boss of this block.
She possessed extraordinary physical abilities and had earned herself the nickname “Long-Eared Slayer” by brutally attacking six other female prisoners.
Casey was a half-elf.
The reason she ended up in Alban Prison was because she had engaged in a vicious brawl at a tavern, leaving four individuals on the brink of death.
Her sentence was three years and six months.
“Prisoner No. 189, who arrived today, is Jane Lloyd, someone I know. Could you please take care of her for me? I’m asking you.”
Inside the prison, money spoke louder than the outside world.
I handed Casey a total of 4,000 gil from my wallet and around 20 cigarettes that were left in a cardboard box.
“You’re such a cautious man. Even if you didn’t do this, I would still listen to your request,” she remarked.
Although she said that, Casey swiftly tucked away the offered money and cigarettes beneath her clothes.
“I’m sorry, but please take care of it.”
“Hey, is she your woman?”
“No, she’s just an acquaintance.”
“I see. Hey, Mister…”
Suddenly, with a sweet tone, Casey leaned forward, pulling her arms around her chest.
Her already large bosom was further emphasized, revealing a deep cleavage from the loosely unbuttoned collar.
“What’s the matter?” I asked.
“I promise to take good care of that girl, so please hold me just once.”
W-What’s the sudden change for?
Are you in need of money?
“No, I already gave you all the money I had.”
“Oh, I don’t want money. I just want to be embraced by Mister,” she said.
“Why again?”
“Well, you know, Mister is a great man, and if I become the prison wolf’s woman, my value will rise,” she explained.
It seemed that the strange nickname given by the prisoners had stuck.
It must have been because I had defeated Jack Ketch, known as the most violent inmate in Alban.
Come to think of it, Ketch had become completely docile.
Not only was he immobilized due to his injuries, but it seemed that area of his had also become useless.
According to Mephisto’s information, it turned out one of his testicles had indeed been crushed.
“It was swollen like haggis on the left side,” he had mentioned.
Haggis is a dish made by stuffing minced sheep offal and onions into a sheep’s stomach and boiling it. I don’t dislike it, but thanks to Professor Mephisto, I didn’t feel like eating it for a while.
Ketch had stayed in the infirmary for a while, but now he secluded himself in his own cell, fearing retaliation from the prisoners he had once tormented.
He must be experiencing firsthand the concept of karma.
When our eyes met, he cowered and hid, so it seemed there was no fear of retaliation.
Nevertheless, I’ll stay alert and not let my guard down.
“Come one, just once is fine, right?” she said.
Casey leaned in, pressing her chest against my arm.
With Jane in mind, I couldn’t simply dismiss her advances and found myself in a dilemma.
“Well, Casey is attractive, but I… It’s just that… I can’t have sex without love…”
I struggled for an excuse before inadvertently revealing my true feelings.
“Hahaha! Ohhh, hahahaha!”
She didn’t have to laugh that much… Did I say something strange?
While Casey was rolling with laughter, I slipped away from the situation.
