Chapter 244: Longing

Crackle—

As the flames blazed, the firewood popped and crackled.

Five figures sat around the campfire, all of them men.

After a full day of fighting, three of the five had sustained injuries, with only the two youths remaining unscathed.

Three of them were old acquaintances of Chu Feng: Lin Ruo, Li Jiuye, and Young Master Qian.

The other two men were named Yang Jie and Sun Zhuang.

The campfire was entirely thanks to Young Master Qian’s extravagance, as he had actually used spiritwood for fuel.

Even though Young Master Qian was only distantly related to the Qian Family, the wealth he carried around was still astonishing. Buying a bit of spiritwood was nothing to him.

Yang Jie moved closer to Young Master Qian and whispered, “Young Master Qian, those two youths are really strange. Even we were having trouble dealing with so many demonic shadows, yet they handled them with ease.”

Young Master Qian had naturally noticed this as well. “So what? It only means we’re not as skilled as they are. Still, I heard those two are transfer students too, just like that kid in our class.”

“Strange. They all happened to join right before the tournament. Could they be interested in the Heavenly Dao Stele?” Yang Jie boldly speculated.

“How would I know?!” Young Master Qian rolled his eyes irritably.

Although the two had deliberately lowered their voices, Lin Ruo and Li Jiuye still caught every word of their conversation.

Lin Ruo glanced at Li Jiuye. Arrogant by nature, he had always preferred to work alone. If not for the rules, he wouldn’t have bothered finding anyone to team up with.

Li Jiuye, meanwhile, had absolute confidence in himself. Although his strength was far from what it once had been, he still had plenty of trump cards in reserve.

Sun Zhuang simply tended to the fire. He was part of Young Master Qian’s group of three.

Their group had merely happened to run into Lin Ruo and Li Jiuye. They were originally two separate teams, but since they were heading in the same direction, they had temporarily joined forces.

Both teams were secretly hoping the other side would expend more effort dealing with the demonic shadows.

Early the next morning.

Chu Feng opened his eyes. Recalling everything that had happened last night, it had been nothing short of torture…

Every single time he was about to reach his limit, Sister Tiantian would abruptly stop. Her beautiful eyes would brim with amusement as she insisted that he call her his darling wife before she would continue.

Every time, she stopped at the very last moment. It was pure torment, leaving him hanging without any relief.

“Whew—”

Warm breath brushed against his skin, while that terrifyingly deep abyss mercilessly swallowed his arm.

“S-Sister Tiantian…”

Chu Feng called out softly, but Su Tiantian didn’t react at all, as though she hadn’t heard him.

This couldn’t go on. Not only was he worried he might not be able to endure it, but they were also wasting time. They had to reach the Demon Suppression Tower within three days, and they had already spent an entire night sleeping.

“Sister Tiantian!”

He raised his voice.

“Mmm~”

A seductive moan escaped Su Tiantian’s red lips. Then she wrapped her arms around him, tightened her embrace, and smothered the source of the noise.

A breast… murder was currently unfolding at the scene.

***

By the time Chu Feng fully woke up again, the sun was already high in the sky.

When he walked out of the tent, he saw the enchanting beauty in her flowing silver dress already seated atop a rock, slowly grilling a fish in her hand.

Seeing Chu Feng emerge, Su Tiantian asked, “Little rascal, how did you sleep?”

Terribly. He could barely breathe. Other people suffered from sleep paralysis; he had a demoness pinning him down in his sleep.

But as the saying went, if you were brave enough, you could even make a female ghost take maternity leave.

He glanced at Sister Tiantian and shook his head. That idea was far too unrealistic. If you didn’t have what it took, you should never recklessly take on the job, or the result would be a catastrophic crash.

“I slept very well.”

Chu Feng lied through his teeth.

“Here, try it this time. This Empress made sure to remove the innards.”

Su Tiantian handed the freshly grilled fish to Chu Feng.

“Thank you, Sister Tiantian.”

Chu Feng took it and bit into it, his eyes immediately widening.

“Mm! This flavor!”

Even as a seasoned foodie in his previous life, Chu Feng had never tasted anything quite like it.

“Sister Tiantian! How did you make this? It’s delicious!”

Chu Feng exclaimed in amazement.

“Mmm~ It’s a secret~”

Su Tiantian smiled mysteriously.

***

Boom!

The demonic shadow exploded, and a smooth round bead rolled to Chu Feng’s feet.

“Ninety-nine.”

Chu Feng picked up the bead as he spoke. That wasn’t counting yesterday’s haul. He had collected ninety-nine today alone.

The deeper they went, the more demonic shadows appeared. Eventually, they began appearing five or six at a time, and their strength gradually rose from the second rank to the third. Chu Feng had even encountered one at the fourth rank.

He glanced at the black iron sword in his hand. Its blade was already covered in cracks. At this rate, it would probably snap after killing another dozen or so demonic shadows.

Just then, he spotted three figures walking toward him through the mist.

They had mouths!

Chu Feng stepped forward, unleashing a sweeping wave of sword qi.

“Hey, hey! Who fired that sword qi?! Stop! We’re human! We’re not demonic shadows!”

Not good! Just as Chu Feng was about to forcibly halt his attack, Su Tiantian appeared beside him and gently grasped his wrist.

“Little rascal, keep swinging.”

Ah!

The sword qi swept through, thinning the mist. Chu Feng focused his gaze and realized they weren’t humans at all. They were demonic shadows speaking!

A short while later.

Rumble—

Chu Feng picked up the bead that had rolled across the ground and exclaimed in surprise, “Sister Tiantian, those demonic shadows can actually speak?!”

Su Tiantian replied nonchalantly, “These demonic shadows are formed from the demonic qi leaked by demons. The deeper we go, the denser the demonic qi becomes. Since they’re already imbued with traces of their owners’ auras, there’s nothing strange about them being able to speak.”

Chu Feng nodded. He had learned something new.

***

High in the sky, an ordinary spirit boat was speeding across the heavens.

A formation concealing its aura was active aboard the vessel. On the deck, a woman dressed in red stood before a painting table, holding up her sleeve with her left hand while wielding a brush in her right. Her expression was serious as she painted a portrait. Judging by the image, her subject was a young man.

Not far away, an elegant beauty whose black skirt was embroidered with sword patterns was gazing at the surrounding clouds. Her delicate brows were slightly furrowed, and she seemed somewhat restless.

Walking over to the red-robed beauty, she looked at the young man in the painting and pointed out, “That’s not right. You made Feng’er look too domineering. Besides, Feng’er isn’t this old yet.”

In the painting, the young man held a longsword, his features radiating an aura of one who stood supreme over all beneath the heavens.

Ji Yuhuang, who had been engrossed in her painting, replied upon hearing this, “This is what my little husband will look like in the future, so of course it doesn’t match him now.”

In her previous life, she had seen her little husband when he dominated the cultivation world, so naturally, capturing that imposing presence in her painting was effortless.

“How much longer until we reach the Hundred Races Academy?”

Lu Xiyue asked somewhat anxiously. Given her and Ji Yuhuang’s identities, their every move attracted considerable attention from the outside world.……

Using a teleportation formation consumed far too much spiritual energy, and the resulting fluctuations would easily be detected.

To avoid attracting attention, they had no choice but to secretly travel by spirit vessel.

However, the Hundred Races Academy was extremely far from the Great Yan Kingdom. Even at the speed of a spirit vessel, the journey would still take quite some time.

“You’ve already asked Us that question no fewer than ten times. We’re only halfway there. It’ll still be a while.”

It wasn’t only Lu Xiyue who was anxious. Ji Yuhuang was equally impatient.

She didn’t just yearn for him emotionally… her body missed him terribly as well.

It would have been one thing if she had never tasted such pleasures in her previous life, but this life was entirely different. Once she had experienced them, she finally understood what it meant to crave more after the first taste.

After being apart for so long, she felt that the moment they reunited, she could swallow her little husband whole in a single bite.
