Chapter 13: No Flirting With the Maids!

[Under your devilish training, Simon completed a combat lesson, and his combat skills have improved significantly.]

[Combat LV2 → Combat LV3]

The next morning, Simon loaded the edited prompt and sent it to Elisa.

During the lesson just now, the young lady hadn’t used the opportunity to settle a personal grudge, but honestly, it would have been better if she had. She seemed to have figured out part of how the dream classroom worked and had pushed him to his absolute limit.

That was precisely why Simon had managed to reach [Combat LV3] so quickly. This was already professional level, enough for him to apply for work as a professional bodyguard. His annual salary would rise considerably, though naturally, so would the danger.

Unfortunately, this rate of improvement couldn’t be sustained.

[Young Lady’s Late-Night Lessons] wasn’t a real classroom. Simon wasn’t “learning” …he was “copying” Elisa’s abilities.

At first, the copying was fast, but as he progressed, it would gradually slow down. Once he reached Elisa’s level, the copying would stop altogether.

That was fine. When the time came, he could simply switch to another master. Besides, Elisa herself was improving rapidly. She was one of the seven main characters, after all.

Of all the abilities available, what Simon really wanted to learn was [Mysticism], but [Combat] wasn’t bad either. In the early stages, it was even more practical than [Mysticism].

After getting out of bed, Simon drew open the curtains. Sunlight fell across his face, and he closed his eyes.

A room facing the morning sun really was better. The moment he opened the curtains, sunlight flooded in, instantly waking him up.

His bedroom had also received an upgrade, with the addition of a small desk.

“Mr. Simon.” There was a knock at the door, followed by the head maid Maria’s voice. “Are you awake?”

Simon opened the door. “Good morning, Miss Maria.”

As the head maid, Maria was older than most of the other maids. However, since maids were generally young women to begin with, “older” in her case meant she was only twenty-nine.

She had a gentle face and long flaxen hair, which she wore in a braid draped over her shoulder.

She was slightly nearsighted but normally didn’t wear glasses, leaving her bright blue eyes unobstructed. When handling paperwork, however, she would put on a pair of copper-framed glasses that gave her a distinctly intellectual air.

In terms of figure, Maria was every bit a match for Lady. Helen, though unlike her, Maria was unmarried.

Only unmarried maids could hold well-paid positions. Once a maid started a family, she could no longer attend closely to the lady of the house and would instead be relegated to menial, physically demanding work.

Simon spent a brief moment admiring Maria’s beauty as he waited for her to speak.

“Miss Mabel has invited Miss Elisa over,” Maria explained, revealing the reason for her visit. “At noon, you’ll accompany the coachman and escort Miss Elisa there.”

It was inconvenient for a young lady to go out alone, so in addition to her personal maid, a male servant was required to accompany her. If any trouble arose, it was the male servant’s duty to stay behind and cover her retreat.

Simon didn’t think Elisa needed him to cover her retreat, but those were the rules of high society.

He agreed, thinking to himself that Miss Mabel’s storyline had finally arrived.

[Simon is admiring Maria’s beauty.]

[Simon told a few amusing jokes, making Maria smile.]

[Maria confided some of her troubles to Simon, and Simon offered her advice from a unique perspective, easing her worries.]

[Simon’s relationship with Maria has improved.]

Miss Elisa narrowed her eyes and expressionlessly scanned the [Simon Log] before folding her arms tightly across her chest.

Hehe. She had heard that nobles would castrate their pets to keep them from going into heat. Surely there was a good reason such a tradition had endured for so long.

Perhaps she should launch a nighttime raid on her male servant and follow the nobles’ example.

Hehe, as it happened, her blood technique was an excellent method of sterilization. No cutting required….she only needed to prevent blood from filling the erectile tissue, and the result would be perfect.

Should she do it tonight or tomorrow night?

She could even do it right now. He wouldn’t feel the slightest pain. It would be silent and leave no trace.

A sinister smile spread across Miss Elisa’s face.

“Y-Young Lady, your hair is… it’s finished.” Her personal maid trembled, almost bursting into tears. Miss Elisa’s expression right now was terrifying!

Elisa pushed aside her dark thoughts, cleared her throat, and returned to her usual elegant demeanor.

She turned her head and glanced in the mirror. Her brilliant golden hair had been woven into an intricate hairstyle, and it looked quite nice.

“You may go. I’ll read the newspaper for a while.” Elisa waved her hand.

“Yes, Young Lady.” Her personal maid Eve lowered her head and hurried out of the bedroom.

Elisa touched her face. My expression just now might have been a little unpleasant, but surely it wasn’t that frightening!

Why did that maid look even more terrified than if she’d seen a fishman?

It must be the male servant’s fault. I gave him a combat lesson last night, so some of my killing intent must still be lingering!

Forget it. There was still plenty of time before her appointment with Mabel. She might as well read the newspaper for a while and give her timid personal maid a chance to calm down.

Elisa sat down on the sofa in her bedroom and opened today’s newspaper.

– Kingdom Fleet Completes Annual Review at Machir

– Committee Report on the Factory Working Hours Amendment

– Inquest into a Death in Whitechapel’

What boring headlines.

Elisa closed the newspaper and opened the [Simon Log].

[Simon is comforting Eve, the personal maid. Their relationship has improved.]

“……?!”

What are you doing?! That’s my maid!

Have you forgotten how the butler lost his position?! It was because his subordinate Charles harassed one of the kitchen maids!

And what time do you think it is? What about your work?!

Did I hire you just so you could spend all day chatting with my maids?!

And what were you two even talking about? At least tell me that much!

Miss Elisa was getting anxious. On the one hand, her male servant was slacking off far too much for her liking. On the other, the [Log] was far too vague to satisfy her craving for juicy gossip.

To make Simon get back to work, Elisa urgently summoned her personal maid and the head maid.

She opened the [Simon Log] again.

[Simon is wandering around the manor, giving a few male servants pointers on their work. He feels that time is passing far too slowly and life is far too dull.]

Exactly! That’s what I want!

Be consumed by boredom along with me!

[Simon came to the kitchen and performed a few magic tricks for Nora, one of the kitchen maids. Nora laughed happily. Their relationship has improved.]

Elisa’s smile froze.

How are you still managing to flirt with the maids?!

And what’s this about performing magic tricks? How come I’ve never seen any of your tricks?! Why haven’t you performed them for me?!

……..

….

After lunch, the blazing sun eased slightly, taking some of the heat with it. Simon drove the carriage, taking Miss Elisa and her personal maid Eve to Miss Mabel’s residence.

Driving a carriage was no easy task, especially for Simon who rarely did it. The coachman should have been the one driving, but Miss Elisa had specifically ordered Simon to do it instead.

Simon suspected Elisa was using her position to settle a personal grudge, getting back at him for flirting with the maids.

But he had expected as much. Simon had never intended to play the role of the perfect servant. He had deliberately made sure such things appeared in the [Log] so that Miss Elisa would gradually get used to them.

He needed to maintain a certain degree of independence rather than become one of Miss Elisa’s loyal subordinates.

This was also for Elisa’s own good. What the future Blood Queen lacked wasn’t subordinates, but friends.
