Chapter 29: As Expected, the Protagonist Is Hard to Kill

Released:

The woman was dressed in pure white, her figure perfectly accentuated by the flowing robe. With bright eyes, pearly white teeth, and fair skin, she was a vision of beauty.

As she appeared, many disciples gasped in admiration at her looks. She was so beautiful she could bring down a kingdom. Who would’ve thought such a peerless beauty existed in this world?

Lin Ruo felt his heartbeat quicken as he looked at the breathtaking woman who had suddenly appeared before him. Even he had to admit…she could rival Lu Xiyue.

But when his eyes landed on the completely crimson longsword, Lin Ruo’s pupils contracted. It was her! The senior sister who had taken his treasured artifact at Fragrant Flower Pavilion!

Hearing the familiar voice, Chu Feng instinctively looked up only to see a familiar face right in front of him.

“Junior Brother, are you okay?!”

Bai Yuyan asked worriedly. Fortunately, she had shown up today. Otherwise, the consequences would’ve been unimaginable. Right now, her junior brother was no match for Lin Ruo.

“I’m fine, Senior Sister Yuyan.”

Chu Feng replied, scratching his cheek. If she had been even a little later, things might’ve turned out badly.

“Leave the rest to me.”

Bai Yuyan smiled gently, then turned around with a cold expression on her face.

At this moment, Lin Ruo’s face was filled with seriousness. The woman before him gave off an unmistakable sense of danger.

Bai Yuyan glanced at Lin Tian, who lay covered in blood not far away. She had just been worrying about finding a reason and here it was.

“Fighting privately within the sect and severely injuring a fellow disciple. Do you admit your guilt?”

Naturally, Lin Ruo had no intention of admitting guilt.

“Hah! He brought this upon himself. What does it have to do with me?”

Faced with Lin Ruo’s defiant attitude, Bai Yuyan’s eyes flickered, and Crimson Jade floated to her side.

“Very well. In that case, I’ll take you down myself.”

Whoosh—

Flames ignited along Crimson Jade’s blade as it thrust toward Lin Ruo.

Boom!

Lin Ruo brought out a cauldron-shaped artifact. It was his defensive treasure.

However, before Crimson Jade, it was completely useless. It shattered within moments.

Just as the sword was about to pierce Lin Ruo’s dantian, a figure suddenly appeared at his side.

“Stop!”

The newcomer was a black-robed elder. Bai Yuyan’s killing strike was something even a Sixth-Rank cultivator might not be able to block. Yet this man raised his hand, and Crimson Jade stopped in place.

“It’s the Ninth Elder! He actually showed up!”

“I can’t believe Lin Ruo caused even the Ninth Elder to step in!”

The reason the Ninth Elder saved Lin Ruo was because it would’ve been a great pity to let such a genius perish just like that.

“Bai Yuyan, regardless of what happened, Lin Ruo is still your junior fellow disciple. Was it really necessary to go for the kill?”

Bai Yuyan let out a cold snort, gripping Crimson Jade in her hand as she stood with her sword raised.

“I never acknowledged him as my junior brother.”

Hearing this, the Ninth Elder felt a headache coming on. Lu Xiyue was one thing, but now even her senior disciple had this kind of attitude.

“Bai Yuyan, do me a favor and let this matter go. What do you say?”

“Ninth Elder, then why don’t you do me a favor and let me stab him once? How about that?”

Listening to Bai Yuyan directly challenge the Ninth Elder, Chu Feng couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. As expected of the protagonist…. someone always shows up at the crucial moment to resolve the crisis for him. Just like at the Fragrant Flower Pavilion last time.

This one… this one’s unbeatable.

“Hmph! If the Ninth Elder hadn’t shown up at the last moment, I definitely would’ve crippled Lin Ruo!”

Walking down the road, Bai Yuyan said in frustration. It had been such a perfect opportunity…only to be interrupted halfway through by the Ninth Elder who insisted on protecting Lin Ruo no matter what.

“Senior Sister Yuyan, don’t be angry. He’s not worth getting worked up over.”

Chu Feng tried to console her from the side. After all, the guy was the protagonist. He’s got plot armor; there’s no way he’s dying.

Since 40% of the Mission Hall had been destroyed, Chu Feng couldn’t collect his reward and just headed back.

Great. After all this time, he didn’t have a single coin…no, not even half a spirit stone in his pocket.

Though seeing Lin Ruo today had seriously annoyed Bai Yuyan, spotting her junior brother again lifted her mood.

“Junior Brother, come on. I’ll take you somewhere.”

With that, Bai Yuyan grabbed Chu Feng by the wrist and summoned Crimson Jade, before enlarging it.

“Wait! Senior Sister Yuyan! I—ahhh!”

As soon as Chu Feng saw Bai Yuyan enlarging Crimson Jade, his heart sank. Not the flying sword again….he was terrified of heights!

But before he could finish his sentence, the flying sword shot off into the sky, disappearing into the horizon.

“Young Lin Ruo thanks the Ninth Elder.”

Lin Ruo bowed in gratitude.

“Haha, Lin Ruo, there’s no need to be so formal. You’re a genius, after all. Our Heaven’s Pinnacle Sect won’t just let someone like you perish.”

The Ninth Elder truly couldn’t understand why Lu Xiyue insisted on expelling Lin Ruo from the sect. With proper cultivation, the boy could very well become an Eighth-Rank cultivator in the future. That would be a guaranteed win for the sect.

“Lin Ruo, I’m sure you’ve heard about the matter concerning the Sword Immortal of the Bright Moon. However, Heaven’s Pinnacle Sect will not abandon you. Since that’s the case, why don’t you become my disciple?”

With that, the Ninth Elder extended an olive branch.

Delighted by the offer, Lin Ruo immediately clasped his fists and dropped to one knee.

“Disciple Lin Ruo greets Master!”

“Haha! Good! I’ll report to the Sect Master shortly. Come with me.”

The Ninth Elder was quite pleased with Lin Ruo’s response.

“Yes, Master!”

A glint of coldness flashed in Lin Ruo’s eyes at that moment. He had already made plans to escape and was even prepared to give up the sect’s treasure. But now, it seemed that treasure was indeed fated to be his!

Just wait! Once that treasure is in his hands, no one, no matter who it was, would be able to stand above him! He would be the supreme force in the cultivation world!

On the Sect Master’s Peak, a streak of light descended from the sky.

“Greetings, Moonlight Sword Fairy!”

Two young disciples bowed respectfully upon seeing Lu Xiyue.

Lu Xiyue responded with a faint “Mmm”, then stepped forward and pushed open the door. Inside was a massive pill furnace, beside which a young man sat cross-legged.

“Junior Sister, you’ve come looking for me more in the past few days than you have in the past ten years combined.”

The Sect Master spoke slowly while opening his eyes.

“Senior Brother, did Ninth Elder really take Lin Ruo as his disciple?”

“That’s right.”

“No! Senior Brother, we must drive Lin Ruo out of Heaven’s Pinnacle Sect as soon as possible. Otherwise, he’ll bring disaster in the future!”

Lu Xiyue said anxiously. Why was everyone so reluctant to let Lin Ruo go just because of his talent? That guy was nothing but a backstabbing traitor!

“Junior Sister, you’ll need to give a reason. Expelling someone without cause…how could our sect maintain its reputation?”

The Sect Master was also thinking of the sect’s name. Some matters, if not weighed on the scale, are weightless; but once they are, even a mountain can’t outweigh them.

With Lin Ruo’s level of talent, if he were expelled, other major sects would fight to take him in.

That would inevitably lead to people throwing mud at Heaven’s Pinnacle Sect and the Sect Master couldn’t let the sect’s name be ruined under his leadership.

“Senior Brother, you…!”

Lu Xiyue hadn’t expected her Senior Brother to be so stubborn. Ever since he became the Sect Master, it felt like he had changed into a different person.

“Fine! I just hope you won’t regret this choice in the future!”

With a flick of her sleeve, Lu Xiyue’s figure vanished.

The Sect Master stared into the pill flames. After a long silence, he finally spoke,

“Xiao Yi, from now on, keep an eye on Lin Ruo. Report everything he does directly to me.”

“Yes, Master.”

A voice echoed from the shadows deep within the room.

Bro’s storage pouch as a 2nd rank casually has an artifact capable of unleashing the power of a 7th rank, is this not suspicious? How come this guy has no elder that’s stalking him to plunder his spiritual roots and fortune.

??? pretty sure there is a cause at this point? Firstly the whole thing with the storage pouch being sus as hell, though not necessarily enough for expelling to be reasonable.

Definitely enough that a thorough investigation should occur though. And then attacking another member of the sect unprovoked?

This sure is one doodoo sect if thats how little it cares for its members. At this point I daresay they should consider just leaving it.
